Purim

Yellow!

So Purim is coming up. For those of us who aren't clear on what Purim is, Purim is a Jewish holiday which is celebrated in Adar, the sixth month of the lunar year.
The basic idea is that some bad dude wanted to kill all the Jews, and the king went along with it.
Meanwhile, the kings wife left him, and the king found a new one, Esther, not knowing that she
was a Jew herself, and that her uncle had saved the king's life earlier.

One night the king couldn't sleep, and so he read the Memory Book, which said that when Esther's uncle never got repaid for saving the king's life. He sent for the bad dude, who was his advisor, to tell him what to do with such a man. The evil guy, thinking that this was him, said that he should be led around on the king's horse wearing the king's clothes and crown, with the person who was leading him saying: "This is what will be done to that man whom the king honors" (Loose translation). In the end, the bad guy ended up leading the horse and chanting that phrase, which naturally made him madder. Later, when Esther's uncle heard what was going to happen to them, he told her that she needed to stand up for the whole Jewish nation, which she did. But, since the proclamation to kill the Jews was signed with the king's ring, and since whatever is signed with THE ring cannot be changed, Esther and her uncle got permission to write a new proclamation, saying that the Jews have permission to defend themselves. So in the end it turned out to be a happy day, and since then on that day, everybody dresses up in costumes, like Esther's brother did. I think.

Anyway, I'm dressing up as a hippy with a twist.... Pictures later ;)

Adios, muchachos and muchachettes!
